What is the remote backup software?
The remote data backup service is called DepositIT. Using DepositIT will guarantee the safety of all the critical information stored on your computer, laptop or servers.
How does the remote backup service work?
At the time you have selected, the DepositIT software will automatically:
- encrypt your data to 448-bit to ensure total privacy, this is over 3 times the level used by most internet banks
- compress it to reduce transfer times whilst maximising the amount we can store for you
- transfer it over a secure internet connection to remotely located servers
- triplicate it for additional security, providing 3 separate backup copies
- store the 3 copies in 3 geographically independent maximum-security locations (all our servers reside in the UK, and no data is transferred (by us) overseas at any time)

All information is encrypted prior to transfer, and once the data arrives on the servers it is further encrypted. Only you (the customer) has the encryption key, hence no one at DepositIT (or elsewhere) is able to access or view the information. If at any time you need to retrieve a copy of your data, be it a single file or your entire hard drive, simply press the "Restore" button on the DepositIT software and watch your information immediately return.
You can also restore to any machine so if your computer is stolen, simply get access to a new one, install the DepositIT software and you can retrieve your information immediately.
